The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they had received an emergency call for a 25 year old woman who lives in Lovato’s area at 11.39am.According to reports by
TMZ, the singer-who has fought substance abuse for several years-overdosed on Tuesday morning at her home in the Hollywood Hills.

In her YouTube documentary she says
she first started using cocaine when she was 17 and “loved it,” and openly discusses years of substance abuse. According to Lovato, her father was also an "addict and an alcoholic."
"I felt out of control the first time I did it," she said. "My dad was an addict and an alcoholic.
"Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family."
Lovato went to rehab for the first time in 2010.
"I wasn't ready to get sober," she said in the documentary.
"I was sneaking it on planes, sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night"
It is unclear what drugs Lovato overdosed on. Early reports said it was heroin but this was later contradicted.
